The Heart Behind My Handmade Shop

Updated: Dec 4, 2025

A story of home, heritage, and slow-made treasures

When I started this little shop, I didn’t realise it would become such a reflection of who I am - what I grew up with, what I cherish, and what I hope to pass along. It’s more than a place that holds products. It’s a home for stories, memory, and meaning. Every piece you find here is touched by heart, intention, and the belief that simple things can make life feel richer.

Where It All Began

The heart behind my shop began long before I had children of my own or a sewing machine on the dining table. It began in the small moments I didn’t realise were shaping me - watching my parents create, fix, tinker, and treasure things that held meaning.

My mum had a curious little shop of her own in a large barn like shed on the outskirts of our childhood home. Gifts, solid wood furniture with details only true craftmanship could make - the kind of things that created zen.

I'm reminded of the moments i seek as i move through days, now. The feeling of letting the world move fast around you, while your world feels slow and present.

I grew up playing with imaginary fairies in the back yard, admiring the way water would sparkle on the bell flowers from the morning sun and frost would lay on the grass like a warm {..more like cold}, blanket. Feeding the horses + frolicking through the forest on our acres of land. This was the beginning of my understanding - that homes lay deeper than a trend - it was memories, moments .. and the occasional mud pies.

And while I now have a curious little shop of my own, I’m still learning, still improving, still figuring it out as I go. But there’s something comforting about that. Growth makes the journey sweeter - and a little funnier, too, when my mistakes end up teaching me more than my successes.

A Heart That Was Raised on Vintage

My love for vintage started long before I opened a shop - long before I even knew what “vintage” meant.

My dad was a collector through and through. The kind of person who could spot a treasure under a mountain of “junk" from a mile away. I grew up spending Saturday mornings wandering through local markets, Sunday afternoons hopping between garage sales, and once a month, driving slowly through hard-rubbish piles hunting for pieces that deserved a second chance at life.

To some people, it was just old furniture or forgotten items. But to us, it was history sitting on the curb. Items that had lived decades in family homes, soaked in traditions, birthdays, new babies, Sunday dinners, arguments, laughter --life. I didn’t realise it at the time, but those weekends shaped the way I see things now.

Vintage isn’t “used.”

It’s loved. It’s layered with memories. It’s proof that craftsmanship, care, and story mean something.

Over the years, my heart grew attached to pieces that carry that weight - items that have stood the test of time because they mattered to someone.

Now, every vintage product I add to my shop carries that same intention:

to save something beautiful from landfill, honour its story, and to let it begin again in a new home that will cherish it just as much.

Creating a Home You Can Feel

The things I make; the simple, soft, slow pieces - are inspired by the kind of home I’m always trying to create: gentle, lived-in, warm, comforting, and imperfect in the best way.

Life is full and messy {especially with kids - I’ve accepted that the kitchen floor is basically a museum of crumbs at this point}. But even in the chaos, I’ve found so much peace in slowing down and choosing things that feel meaningful, thoughtful, and made with care.

Handmade pieces remind me to pause. Vintage pieces remind me of the stories already written. And together, they shape a home that not only looks nice - it feels like us.

Why I Do What I Do

This little shop is personal.

It’s my creative outlet, my therapy some days, my joy most days, and my way of sharing the slow, sentimental, heart-led approach that shaped me.

Your support means the world.. truly. Every order, every kind message, every little moment where someone connects with a piece I’ve made or found.. it reminds me why I started this in the first place.

A home isn’t built on things-

it’s built on meaning.

And meaning is exactly what I hope you feel here.

with love, Leish.
